It is ironic that when Jesus asked for disciples, prophets, servants, peacemakers, and healers; he instead got national celebrities, reverends, televangelists, and chaplains.
But maybe with the election of Barack Obama, it will be different. Maybe the Church will proclaim and practice a Gospel of Forgiveness. Perhaps it will confront and transform the National Security State and Military-Industrial-Academic Complex, that President Eisenhower warned about.
Maybe the Church will repent of its involvement in massive rearmament programs, and pressure the State to end the deadly and racist wars in the Middle East. And finally, perhaps the Church will persuade Barack Obama to meet with Iran's Supreme Religious Leader, who has anathematized nuclear war.
In doing this, the Imperial Church and its leaders may possibly avoid a spiritual death and resurrect a new and just Prophetic Church.

While the world was watching Barack Obama's ascendancy to the White House and heralding it as a new era in race relations and peace, another epochal scene was occurring in the U.S.
After meeting with presidential hopeful John McCain, Reverend Billy Graham announced an end to his Presidential Council, which has advised and anointed every president since Dwight D. Eisenhower.
In some ways, the Church has never been good at blessing the State and being complicit in the raising of armies and fighting wars. When this happens, the Church has often lost its prophetic imagination and distinctive role in society. Because of this and over the centuries, the Church, at least in the West, has assimilated the values found in absolute monarchies, totalitarian states, and militant democracies.
In some instances, it has behaved worse than the State and has become an Imperial Church.

Billy Graham never offered anything to Obama because Barack is liberal? Does God cares for only one or some ?

Hi People (Guests, Members, Moderators and Admins... sa lahat)
Good Day!
Good AM mrExdobal...
let me share/reply with your above stand/comments in fairness to majority of our readers and guests...
I do believed that if we will all focus into mens (plural) wrongdoing / shortcomings instead of focussing unto His Word (The Holy Bible), negative things will happen for none is righteous according to His Word, it will reflect in our lives or will be a turning point of our faith into seeking more and more of God's provisions or the sad thing is, it can misled us unto something cultic fallacies or unBiblicall faith... The Bible clearly mentioned that not one is righteous, not even one;
Romans 3:10 as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one;
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" ("ALL" includes you and me.)
imagine my friend mrexobal... kaya we cannot expect goodness or excellent example being a righteous leader or follower, reason is obvious... not one nga is righteous eh...
kaya kung mag fo focus tayo sa ibang tao instead of looking unto God's love and righteousness wala talagang mangyayari kundi tingnan natin ang kamalian ng iba at yung sarili natin ang masasabi nating tama ako tama kami at tama ay ikaw lang talaga... ok, di na nga talaga natin pwedeng pilitin ang isang tao sa kanyang gusto, even you kahit ba pilitin kitang maniwala sakin or pilitin kita na kumain ng santol if you don't like it naman, it's useless di ba...
religion cannot save us, it's not by being into Christian Community can save us, it is our Faith that can save us, It is the belief that even if we cannot see God thru Christ our Lord whom is mentioned is the only Mediator of God... it is the essence of something you have claim and believed that God can do anything and nothing is impossible to God... Kahit na di mo pa siya nakikita pero naniniwala ka na buhay siya...
John 20: 28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
John 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
our deeds as well cannot save us so that we could not boasts,
We are Save by Grace (God’s Mercy)
Ephesians 2:8, 9... "For by grace (God's mercy) are we saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, "NOT OF WORKS" lest any man should boast." (You cannot earn your salvation by either doing something or NOT doing something)
His Word is meant to be shared...
2 Timothy 3:14-17, "But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be PERFECT, THROUGHLY FURNISHED unto ALL good works" (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. (2 Tim. 3:14-17 NIV).
God gave us Freewill so that we could not be robots to follow Him automatically,
and it is us to decide if we will believe Him or not,
i have replied for mr Exdobal's stand and views for i do believed that His Word will not go in vain...
Have a Great Day and God Bless Us All...

Migy, if that is the case, then who do you think God will bless, the one who obeys his will or the one who do not?

If material things is someone's leverage of being bless then you must be leading the way of the world. A buddhist cannot become a Buddha if he delves into materialism. A rich christian can not be said as a blessed one if he accumulated his richness in a worldly ways. No one can reach the kingdom of heaven if he or she continues in sinning.
Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.
Do you think GMA will reach the Kingdom of God even though she'll bribe her way by donating billions in currencies to her church?
Whatever your answer is, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God, ... " ~~~ Matthew 19:26

Hi Mr. Raf, Sorry to say this Raf, but it seems that you do not understand what i have shared with... stating the title... i should say that the answer is obvious, one should understand the Freewill that God gave... Now, it is your will to believe or not and i don't have anything to add if your reply is within your own agenda and self belief or whatever belief you have there, since we All have our own Freewill... sabi nga natin sa tagalog, pag gusto me paraan! at pag ayaw laging me dahilan yan! at oo nga pala friend Raf, kindly & please don't tell me that my reply is a non-compliant with yours... am not forcing your to accept it since it was stating what the Word of God says, not mine... Note:[/u] God stated in His very Word that none has been given to judge anyone... Luke 6:37 "Judge not, and you shall not be judged. Condemn not, and you shall not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. John 3:17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Romans 14:22 Do you have faith? Have it to yourself before God. Happy is he who does not condemn himself in what he approves. Psalms 37:33 The Lord will not leave him in his hand, Nor condemn him when he is judged. Good Day Mr. Raf!migz

You did not get the point did you? You may consider the article again to remind you that nothing is old or new in this world.

"You did not get the point did you? You may consider the article again to remind you that nothing is old or new in this world."
How many times did I notice into account that when you're quoting someone's article that you should be ready to defend it. Firstly, the title of the Dallas Darling's article is not the "Imperial Church" as you posted.
www.aljazeera.com/news/articles/39/Barack_Obama_and_the_Imperial_Church.html
Why I am not so surprised--you are practicing your famous tactic once again, desselecting. I always consider an article in its entirety and for me having the familiarity of your desselecting style, I know that there's got to be a falsity in your grasp in comprehension of reasonableness. It's a sort of blind diverticulum or should I say a cul-de-sac in a way.
Secondly, since you entitled this thread as it is, then, the only reason for me is to take note of your title. Who wouldn't? The Southern Baptist Church is not THE Imperial Church for the simple reason that Winston Churchill is not the "Great Emancipator" but Abraham Lincoln. You are so gullible or easily cheated by someone's wordings by not doing your research thoroughly. If I were you, instead of wasting your precious time being duped by activists & the likes, go by the Holy Bible, read then meditate on it. Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to convince you from your wrong idealogy but I am only here to refute in order for other Christians to realize and to evaluate your imposing lies.
Lastly, Dallas Darling teaches world history and the funny thing is, he miscued on this one. The Imperial Church is none other than the Vatican and its Roman Catholicism because it is simply a Notion of Fact, whilst Southern Baptist is only one part of Protestantism. How many times did Darling write the wordings, "The Church?" and that alone is wrongly imposed without basing the facts of history.
So in the end posting a quote without understanding it, is nothing but full of lies.

Then tell me how do you define blessing
Do you think it is only about an act of approval or encouragement? Or do you think it is what most people believe that it is a thing conducive to one's happiness & welfare? Or do you think it is about grace performed during meal?
It is not only about those things mentioned because ...
Whatever your answer is, "It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God, ... " ~~~ Matthew 19:26
Because ...
Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven
and if you still don't understand that, then, perhaps whoever gave your name will be the one to make you understand.
Btw, tell us on how you define the usage of blessing?
