It is said that our most evocative characteristic as shinobis is our sense of courage, and after the countries and all the villages involved together with the numbers and the dates have grown dim in our memories, the thing we can never forget about a battlefield is the vivid graphic of the outcome.
Walking cautiously toward the Land of Frost and Land of Hot Water to record and to take notes of the 1st & 2nd Deployment Counterattacks, the maps I am using and the distant grumbling of shells and jutsu bombs are telling me that I am miles from the front, but the wind is easterly and the stench it carried deceives me into thinking that I am much closer. Now I know, Kabuto's improved honchos and the Zetsus had annihilated the First Division headed by Darui, and the 2nd Division headed by Kitsuchi BUT not before Darui & Kitsuchi and the Allied Forces destroyed the first batch of Kabuto's Impure World puppets. Something like 8,000 corpses lay out there amid the frontline's battlefields. Their putrefying flesh overwhelmed the odors of smoke and fuel and burned bodies.

When I arrived to the frontline and saw shinobis -- lying at the roadside or in their mangled camps or hanging out of tree branches, camouflaged some in yellow, some in blue, some as green and bloated as well-fed blowflies, some headless, some eviscerated, some charred into mere outlines of the human body, some with legs or arms or legs and arms blown off -- their stink made me gag and my eyes burn and wove itself into my shinobi uniform. No amount of laundering would wash out the smell after I got back intomy sense. Even so, the events I just experienced and the angst of such smell stuck in my nostrils and memories, and days later I could wake up at some nightmare hour and there it would be, in next with me, almost visible. I need a cure for this.
The smell of the event, like names and numbers, turns abstract words and phrases like "Madara" and "Kabuto" and "Mountains Graveyard" and "shinobi credibility" into obscenities. I wish it could be vacuumed the space-time of what had happened.
